How to Print a Flipkart Shipping Label on a Thermal Printer (4×6)

To print a Flipkart shipping label on a 4×6 thermal printer, crop the A4 label PDF down to just the shipping label first, then print it at 100% scale (not "fit to page") on 4×6 (100×150 mm) stock. If you send the raw A4 straight to the printer, the label shrinks and the Ekart barcode gets clipped or blurred, so it fails the scan when the courier picks up.

Why the Flipkart label won't print right as-is

Flipkart hands you the shipping label as an A4 PDF, built for a laser or inkjet printer. On that page the actual shipping label sits in one corner, next to a tax invoice, surrounded by wide white margins.

A 4×6 thermal printer expects a page that is exactly 4×6 inches. Send it the raw A4 and it either shrinks the whole sheet to fit, so the label becomes a tiny blurry rectangle, or prints only the top-left slice and cuts the label in half. Either way the Ekart barcode, the one the courier scans at pickup, comes out too small, off-position, or clipped.

That is the part that actually costs you. A barcode the handheld scanner cannot read shows up as a pickup failure and drags down your Ready-to-Dispatch record. Cropping the label to a clean 4×6 first is what keeps that barcode sharp and in the right place.

Crop the A4 label to 4×6

This is the step that fixes the scan problem. Set your thermal printer to 4×6

Most half-printed or unscannable labels come from the print settings, not the file. Set these before you print:

  • Paper size: 4×6 in, or 100×150 mm. On Windows, set this as the printer's default stock size in Printing Preferences.
  • Scale: 100%, or "actual size". Turn off "fit to page"; once the label is cropped to 4×6 it already fills the sheet.
  • Orientation: portrait.
  • Print darkness: medium to high (around 8 to 12 on most drivers). A too-light setting is the usual reason an Ekart barcode looks fine but will not scan.

Print one, and check the Ekart barcode scans

Print a single label first and scan the Ekart barcode with your handheld scanner or a phone scanner app. If it reads cleanly, run the rest of the batch. If it does not, work through the usual causes:

  • A blurry or grey barcode means the print is too light. Raise the darkness, or slow the print speed by one notch.
  • A cut-off label means the scale slipped to "fit to page", or the stock size is not 4×6. Check both.
  • Long blank gaps between labels mean the printer needs a gap or black-mark calibration. Run the driver's calibrate routine once for your roll.

Keep the invoice, hide the price

A Flipkart label PDF usually carries the tax invoice alongside the shipping label. For inter-state orders it is safer to keep the invoice with the shipment for GST purposes, so crop to a layout that keeps it rather than dropping it. If you only want the courier to see the shipping label, hide the price and the invoice block on the printed label, and keep the full invoice inside the parcel.
